You and I are certainly living in a “Bad News” world!
The ONE THING we need more than anything else is “THE GOOD NEWS” of how we can have the blessings of God in this life and a home in Heaven in the next!
“Good News” is a literal translation of the word that the Bible calls “the GOSPEL." Here is a biblical summary of this wonderful and life-changing GOOD NEWS:
In spite of the fact that we have all sinned against HIM, God loves sinners and sent HIS SON JESUS to pay for our sins on the cross. When we turn away from our sins and believe in Jesus as our Savior and LORD, God forgives our sins, changes our life, and will take us to Heaven when we die!
News does not get better than this!
We have all sinned against HIM…
Romans 6:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
In spite of that, God loves sinners…
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that HE gave HIS ONLY SON, that whoever believes in HIM should not perish but have eternal life.”
Because HE loves sinners, God sent Jesus to pay for sins on the cross…
2nd Corinthians 5:21 “For our sake HE made HIM (JESUS) to be sin WHO knew no sin, so that in HIM we might become the righteousness of God.”
When we turn away from our sins and believe in Jesus as our Savior and LORD, God forgives our sins, changes our life, and will take us to Heaven when we die!
The Bible calls this turning away, “repent.”
Luke 13:3 “No, I tell you, unless you repent you shall all likewise perish.”
So, exactly what does it mean to believe in Jesus?
It means to believe WHO HE is:
John 14:6 “Jesus said to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
It means to believe what HE did:
1st Corinthians 15:3b-4 “Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures, that HE was buried, that HE was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures…”
It means to obey what HE commands:
Mark 1:14-15 “Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the Kingdom of God is at hand, repent and believe in the gospel.”
BELOVED ONE, when we turn away from our sins and believe in Jesus as our Savior and LORD:
GOD forgives our sins!
1st John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, HE is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
GOD changes our life!
2nd Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away, behold, the new has come.”
And, GOD will take us to Heaven when we die!
John 11:25 “Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in ME, though he die, yet shall he live.”
